About Happy Society project

 

Context/background of project

In the field of exchange of good practices 5 countries – GERMANY as the applicant, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Denmark – will implement a two-year-long project on the topic of happy society from 1/09/2019 to 31/08/2021. Nowadays in many European countries we encounter the lack of interest and motivation of young people for being active and contributing to the societies where they live. On the other hand, there are many changes all around the Europe which need a higher level of understanding and adaptation of its citizens as well as the well-developed intercultural competencies. With five participating countries and six schools, our project creates a unique chance for our students to get a multicultural insight into the organization of a society and basic challenges of our time and encourage them for active participation in the society.

Objectives of the project

  • to rise interest and motivation of young people for being active and contributing to the societies where they live
  • to reach a higher level of understanding and adaptation
  • develop intercultural competencies

Students and the teachers gain knowledge and improve their skills in the following fields:

  • how societies are organised
  • knowledge about democracy
  • be enabled to realize their own need
  • necessity of their engagement in their own societies and EU
  • communication, writing and reading skills in English.
  • ICT
  • working in the international teams
  • knowledge on participating countries and cultures
  • improve their teaching methods with team teaching and project management skills.

The number of evaluation activities will be carried on to check if the project objectives were met.

Number and profile of participants

Our target group is pupils between 13 and 15 years and their teachers and accompanying staff. We are planning to involve 45 pupils and 14 teachers to 152 short term mobilities for pupils and 55 for teachers. Aproximately 240 pupils and 20 teachers will participate in school project activities.

Description of the project activities

  • introducing the partner schools, town and countries,
  • creating project teams at each school,
  • preparing,presenting, comparing and discussing the results of the researches on societies of participating schools
  • creating the concept of what happiness means (world café)
  • preparing the questionnaire on happiness in a society
  • creating a vision of an ideal society
  • creating a manual on happiness in a society
  • creating a dictionary on happines
  • creating a manual onbeing an active citizen
  • workshops for pupils and for teachers on ICT skills (on-line surveys, preparing videos, using TwinSpace, …)
  • participation in lessons at school
  • team teaching in internationa teams
  • learning about hosting country and culture
  • international evening for students, teachers and parents
  • sharing experience
  • creating friendships
  • project management activities: planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluation, dissemination

The tangible and intangible project results will be dessiminate to different target groups with a large set of broad and deep dissemination activities.

Methodology to be used

Different methodologies are going to be used during implementation as the project work one, international workshops, research work, debates, interviews, role playing, authentic learning, peer learning, learning by doing, and so on.
